This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the middle of a long standing community where there is no unfamiliar face; it gives the sense of an extended family. Although this is my first year teaching at the school, I already feel a sense of belonging. The students, parents, and staff are genuine and they welcome all who joins the community.
Students at my school are outgoing, energetic, resilient, and full of excitement and talent.
The talents in my school range from athleticism, singing, dancing, and much more. Our school pep rallies are unlike no other. Students look forward to showcasing their talents and all of our students are supportive of each other.
My Project
My students attend a low-income area, Title I school. Outside of school the majority of our students face many obstacles. Through education and extracurricular activities, our students are given a chance to rise above their circumstances and showcase their many talents and skills.
Our school serves as a place of hope and opportunity for many students.
Due to lack of funding, there are many areas that are in need. As the basketball coach, there is a shortage of equipment, and we are not able to properly begin our season.
I want our students to know that they are cared for and that they can bloom where they are planted. I want to provide these students with the right resources to help them flourish. I know that with your help and assistance we can make a difference in their lives. I want to ensure that they do not miss an opportunity because they don't have the resources to first take the shot.
