My Students
My students are funny and love life. They enjoy working together and sharing ideas. We are a close-knit community. I teach physical education and math for four classes and the state-mandated Response to Intervention and Instruction class. At times, they need to be motivated and experience opportunities for success. I have one class that is an inclusion class. They are very competitive and love to express themselves. My students face several challenges that makes it very difficult for them to concentrate and learn. Just recently we had two siblings to lose their 11 year old brother from being shot by a 14 year old relative.
My Project
These items will make a huge difference in my students' learning for a plethora of reasons. The first reason is that this project promotes creativity, inclusion, and self-pride. I was talking with a student one day. She was upset that her mother couldn't buy her a T-shirt that sparkled. My mother made her a mask for me and it stated, "You Matter". It is great to see that sparkle in her eyes. Several students have asked about having a mask for themselves. In crafting and creating this project, I want everyone to know that each one of us is important. It is okay to be different. As part of this project, I am teaching Social Emotional learning with inclusion and diversity. We have several activities that will address the whole child that includes fitness, health, nutrition, tolerance, and antiracism.
Help me give my students materials and supplies that will promote inclusion, self-worth, creativity, and diversity.
I want them to see and know that everyone is important and they have the opportunity to be successful. The beach balls, will be used to highlight and promote diversity, The stamps will be used to mail out invitations. I want this to be very special. The headphones will be used to conduct a scenario and experiment with inclusion. The blender will be used to promote diversity and nutrition. With the help of my donors and Amazon Business matching funds, I am hopeful that this project will get funded.
