This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
First grade is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while others are learning to imitate sounds or hold a paintbrush. All, however, are putting in their all in learning everything there is to learn in the first grade.
Each year, my focus is to identify the individual needs of my students and create a learning environment that is most suitable for each child.
Now, we are working to maintain that excitement at school and need your help!
My Project
My 1st graders need consistent access to technology throughout the week. Although today's children spend way too much time in front of electronic devices, I know that it is now a valued and valuable learning tool. Teaching the children to do research, becoming familiar with search engines such as Kiddle, practicing their math facts skills, and doing reading comprehension quizzes are just a few of the ways that these Chromebooks will be beneficial in my classroom.
Differentiation allows me to accommodate the individual needs of my students.
Having computer access will keep those early finishers busy, while still allowing them to fully meet their potential. It will also give me the ability to assign specific practices to students that are struggling.
