This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Teaching from home is an interesting new world! I would appreciate a little assisstance with supplies to help myself and my colleagues deliver better lessons to our students, be it online via video or on a variety of platforms.
Our students are in a one to one device distance learning situation, which is very fortunate!
They are learning at home and turning in work online. Students enrolled in the classes I teach for college credit are working VERY hard and are required to meet the same standards as they would in class, which can get a little overwhelming.
My Project
These are materials that over the course of the last few weeks, I have found myself wishing I had (and being tempted to purchase) time and time again in order to provide an engaging learning experience for my students.
These materials will help me to stay in touch with my students, not only meeting their needs academically, but emotionally as well.
We have been fortunate that most students have had access to working technology and I have done my best with what I have to engage them, but as the weeks go on it gets less and less easy, even for someone as tech-savvy as I am! I am asking for an adapter so that I can connect peripherals to my school laptop in order to show cultural films, upload photos and to use my personal laptop to project to another screen so I can see them while I am presenting rather than have the presentation take up all of my screen space.
While delivering online classes, it would be so helpful to have a whiteboard where I can illustrate stories and grammatical concepts for my students. I would use the flip charts to make more permanent word walls and resources that I can use over and over during our lessons. The paper, glue, tape and colored pencils would be useful for creating props for my stories and manipulatives for grammatical concepts.
I am also asking for some cards to send directly to my students homes to let me know I am thinking of them and to connect with their parents who are not always included on emails or other updates. I want the students know I care about them in more ways than just turning in their work.
