Help me give my students the board game The Game of Life, cardstock, and velcro to play a financial literacy game and create final career vision boards.
In my College and Career Readiness class, we focus on learning soft skills like effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, and study skills. We also begin to research post high school options like career training, tech programs, colleges, and budgeting.
One of the best ways to teach these skills is through games.
The requested board game, The Game of Life, will help students to learn budgeting skills with real life scenarios. Students also learn about various career options and accompanying average salaries. To extend the learning opportunities, I want to use the cardstock and velcro for students to create their own giant-sized game board. To create the board, they will need to do research to ensure accuracy. Finally, the poster boards will be used for students to create end-of-course vision boards with the info they learned from class.
