Conrad Hall stated "You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward." To me, that is the definition of a true educator. At this point, I am ready to tackle the "student mode" again! I can do that with the help of this funding.
I am currently a second grade teacher and have been for many years.
I also taught Special Education during my first years at this particular school. I teach at a prekindergarten through fifth grade school in which parental support is a huge factor. Our school has more than 500 students at this time. My students are eager to learn and I truly enjoy having each one in my classroom! Our teachers and students are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms daily. The next step for me would be learning about Windows 8, but before I get to that point, I know I need to learn more about this new system. As I become the student in this unique journey, I know I will in turn bring more effective project based lessons into my classroom and to my students with a Window 8 laptop. For now though, I need to work on my proposed lesson plan and become a student. In a nutshell, I know that in learning more about Windows 8 formatting as a student, I can continue my role as a teacher.
My Project
I have two goals for this unique project. First, I have to learn about Windows 8 and second is to learn more about project based learning for student lessons later. My tech leader and I spoke and she shared her Professional Development plan. This includes meeting 3 times, both 1 to 1 and with small groups. With the use of the requested Windows 8 laptop and mouse in this grant, my mentor will guide me with my personal learning path. Our set plan of action for this technology journey will have me working toward 2 goals: The first goal includes learning about this new Windows 8 operating system. After learning the physical aspects of this tool, the 2nd goal would offer effective project-based learning activities for my students using this Windows 8 machine later. Both are goals I hope to achieve with this grant.
Conrad Hall stated "You are always a student, never a master.
You have to keep moving forward." There is so much truth to that statement! At this point, I am ready to step back and be a student! Technology is crucial at our school. I'd love to learn more about Windows 8 & project based learning. My plan is to become involved as a student again. At this time, I have the teacher in place. I know I will be the student. Now, would you consider funding this technology journey for me?
