Yosemite for Low Income Students

My students need two scholorships for our 5th grade outdoor education trip to Yosemite Valley. This will be a once in a lifetime experience as we learn and explore the Yosemite Valley. Activities include hiking, environmental sciences, team building, animal studies and self confidence building.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 5th grade teacher at a Title one school, which means that 85% of my students are below the poverty level. My students come to school each and every day ready and willing to learn as they want to make something of themselves and break the poverty cycle. They are wonderful children and deserve much more than what they have.

Every year my class goes to outdoor eduction in the Yosemite Valley. It is the experience of a life time. They work all year to get there, but some students just do not have the means to afford it. They would love to go on this trip with the rest of their classmates. This trip is also an opportunity to give them more self esteem and courage to tackle difficult challenges that they may face in the future.

I am look to have the trip to Yosemite paid for for two students so they may go to Yosemite with the rest of their class. This trip can change their lives. There, they will learn about the environment, animals, and the history of the valley. But more importantly, they will learn about themselves. They will learn that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to and that they can become anything they want to, as long as they are willing to work for it.

With your help, you can change the lives of a couple of individuals that are struggling to find themselves and struggling to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
