My Students
I am a fourth-year teacher. I teach at a low-income, high poverty school district. They face many challenges to their learning each day. Regardless, they are very creative and love to learn.
My students are incredibly enthusiastic learners, always excited to use new materials I bring to the classroom.
My students appreciate when I bring in something new for them to use. Their eyes light up and they excitedly ask questions when I sort through new supplies or bring out new materials.
My Project
I am requesting yoga mats for my students. We will use the yoga mats during our mindfulness time. We are also requesting yoga books, yoga cards, and yoga dice that students can use on their own during free time.
Yoga engages the mind and body helping students with self-regulation.
We have started to follow yoga videos in our classroom. I have also taught them some poses. They have practiced outside at recess on their own. My students would love to have mats to feel comfortable while completing yoga poses. After the school year is over they will take the mats home.
