Yoga Mats for Mindfulness

My Students

Our school is located in the middle of an ethnically diverse neighborhood of Toledo. While their home lives may be ethnically diverse, their economic situations are similar. Therefore 100% of our culturally diverse students receive free breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.

When our students arrive at school they know they are in a safe and nurturing environment where they are provided a multitude of ways to expand their knowledge base.

As teachers in this type of environment, we are trying to increase our student's understanding of the world around them with diverse texts, hands-on activities, technological projects, and peer discussions.

My Project

There are many things in this world that children can't control. One thing they can control is creating their own inner peace. A class set of yoga mats would provide the necessary materials for weekly yoga practice in the classroom.

As Dalai Lama once said, "If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation."

I want to teach my students how to live and learn in a peaceful way. Practicing yoga weekly is one way I can help them find a sense of calm, strength, and balance.
