My Students

My students are incredible. They come to my classroom ready to experience and experiment with art. Even though they only have a limited background in art, they love the opportunity to be artists, not just students, for a specific part of their day.

It's my mission to give my students engaging art curriculum so they can experience success and create art that they didn't know they could produce.

Seeing their energy gives me the drive to make my art class the highlight of their school day. To give them the best art experience that I can offer.

My Project

Teachers, students and families are faced with school closures to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. School closures are a necessary element of social distancing, and a vital component in the fight to “flatten the curve” of this pandemic.

In spite of this, education is a fundamental human right and as educators, we have a responsibility to teach throughout these closures to ensure that our students can access this right under even the most challenging of circumstances.

One powerful tool we have at our disposal to help us achieve this is technology. I am one of these teachers an Art teacher; a teacher still committed to teaching my art students an engaging and rigorous curriculum.

My students cannot afford to have personal technology at home but with an iPad and apple pencil, I can teach my art lessons to my students with my document camera and create videos that they can access with their cell phones. These tools would give my students access to art in an unprecedented time where their daily lives have been put on hold and bring back some normalcy, and foster their creative expression and their mental well-being.
