Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These young men and women are ninth grade students who are trying to become positive leaders on campus and in the community. Through participation in this project, they are not only gaining mental strength but they are a symbol for the next generation to look up for leadership.
These students are coming from various backgrounds and have demonstrated strength and perseverance.
In addition, they are stepping out of a pandemic to re-emerge as valuable members of the community and the school atmosphere. These students are strong, powerful and are learning to grow.
These young men and women deserve an opportunity to begin a project, build within the project both mentally and physically, and then see it come to fruition. It is truly amazing to see these 9th grade students invest in something that not only benefits their school community, but their families as well.
My Project
Our students will develop a YES I CAN attitude through hard work and dedication around our campus. We will use different planters to create artistic spaces outside buildings, while planting resources for fresh produce for students to take home. Our students often crave fresh fruits and vegetables because they lack those items at home.
These students will improve their mental health, physical health, and academic success by dedicating their time and efforts into this project.
Not only will the project provide a life skill, it will allow them to see the growth in real time. They will be able to take home their fruits and vegetables to share with their families. In addition, the students will gain confidence within themselves to persevere and see and end result. This project isn't just about planting seeds, it is about planting, fostering and providing a future for our students and the community in which we serve.
