At our school, the girls shine bright through excellence, leadership, wellness and honor. These girls travel from 81 different zip codes around LA to be challenged in STEM subjects to show that women make a powerful difference in all aspects of life. The girls are able to explore and design outcomes that are enduring lessons that will continue to flourish as they grow and develop skills that do not even exist today.
Through a sisterhood, these girls support one another to gain access and equity to all those who set foot on campus.
The scholars go out of their way to make sure that everyone is felt loved and accepted, no matter what. It is through kindness, empathy and tolerance that this school paves the way for education. The girls are trailblazers who are changing the world one STEM subject at a time.
My Project
The engineering students at my STEM school have studied the physics governing projectile motion, and know how to calculate the horizontal and vertical components of a launched object's displacement. Now it's time to put these abstract concepts into practice.
This project will pay for kits for the girls to design and build their own unique rockets.
In addition to the rocket kits, other required accessories are wadding to protect the parachute, a template to symmetrically align the tail fins, and a stand to support the rockets before ignition. Launch day is sure to be a memorable learning experience for all!
