My Project

As you may already know, reading is a huge part of a second grader's day. This project is for 30 new books to add to our classroom library. My second graders are excited about reading and are reading more and more independently each day.

Having "just right" books for each child to read successfully is extremely important.

This book project includes a six book set of phonics read aloud books I can share as I introduce new phonics skills. These books are very engaging and will serve as a "hook" for our mini lessons. All of the other books are for students to read themselves. Many of the other books are on first grade level. Having these books will make it possible for my less confident, or in some cases, my struggling readers to have more books they can actually already read in order to practice and build their confidence and reading fluency. They will be able to read them and therefore feel successful. As their reading improves and their confidence grows, they will start to read higher level books and hopefully become life-long readers!

Having these new books will be a wonderful addition to our growing classroom library. Thank you for your interest. All donations are greatly appreciated!
