Every morning, my students walk into our classroom with a thirst for knowledge, ready to learn! By the end of the school year, they are independent workers, critical thinkers, and fearless trailblazers ready to take on the challenges of the next grade!
My third-graders come from various communities.
They bring to school with them so much background knowledge already acquired through their own personal experiences. Coupled with their eagerness to learn more, my students desire to be pushed to the next level and to be held to high expectations.
Chromebooks would make a huge difference in my students' learning by providing them the access to much needed online supports in mathematics.
My students absolutely love doing math online - whether it is playing engaging math games or typing their own creative story problems.
Let's face it. In this technology-driven culture, using computers is far more exciting than pencil-and-paper activities. So, why not take hold of that and make the best out of our students' learning?
That is why it is so important that we get these Chromebooks so that students can have access to the many resources that are available to them. For example, an online math site, xtramath.org, is one that supports students in their mathematical fluency. Once students enter third-grade, the rigor of mathematical content rises. And, I don't want any of my scholars left behind due to a lack of fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Therefore, if we are granted these precious Chromebooks, my students will be able to practice their math facts on a daily basis so that their mathematical fluency can improve.
