Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our first grade classroom, my amazing students are active learners who are always full of energy and enthusiasm! After short lessons together, students choose the materials they enjoy using to practice their skills in writing and literacy. They are motivated by the opportunity to choose materials to match their purposes and personal preferences, and they are fully engaged by the hands-on and multi-sensory materials.

Individualized learning is essential in my public school at the edge of an urban center, which serves a diverse population including many students with learning disabilities, English language learning needs, and socioeconomic barriers to success.

We work hard to learn how to function as a team, valuing each other's differences while supporting each other in the common goal of learning and growing as individuals. My students make exciting progress all the time when their learning time provides them with choice and is matched to their individual needs!

My Project

This portable writing center will give each of my students the ability to access writing materials with greater ease. Being able to access their own materials will provide a smoother process during writing time. Their writing portfolios and other essential materials crucial in becoming stellar writers will have been neatly stored.

An organized writing center will lend itself in assisting young writers and illustrators into becoming independent, life-long writers and illustrators.

Being able to provide them with a portable center will not only improve their learning but also improve their school lives. Each student will have had the opportunity to choose materials when creating their own books giving them a sense of accomplishment in becoming independent learners. As an educator, we want our students to become stellar students and to love learning.
