Help me give my students sharpened pencils so they are ready to work and highlighters for annotating complex texts.

My Students

My students are diverse, capable, and intelligent young individuals who have to potential to bring something unique and special to the world. They are discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and change our society for the better.

My students live in a high-poverty area in the North End of Hartford and attend their neighborhood school.

My Project

I started the year with a bunch of pencils and highlighters. However, my supplies are dwindling to zero very quickly.

My electric pencil sharpener broke, so the students have been using a hand sharpener which takes up valuable class time.

My students need to use highlighters for annotating texts. Students will be using these annotations to write their argumentative papers. We will also be using these highlighters for our next unit which is our research project. Students will need to annotate articles and highlight important evidence to use for their class presentation.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
