My wonderful kindergarteners come in each day excited to see their friends and see what we are doing for the day. They come from all over the world.
I teach at a very diverse school in Houston, TX.
We have a high percentage of English Language Learner's. Our diverse population of students speak over forty different languages. For many students this is their first experience in an American classroom.
I have students with varying needs. Some of the needs include ADHD, autism, second language learners, working below level, high achieving/gifted learners, and now trauma due to our area being hit by hurricane Harvey. No matter what challenges they face they come to school wanting to learn. They all love to learn!
My Project
My students are in need of Learn to print write and wipe boards and a giant magnetic early writing page. We would use these boards daily in writing, along with the giant early writing page. My students currently use plain white boards, but having the lines would give my students the ability to write sentences with correct letter formation as they express their thinking. This is just one one of the many concepts we focus on daily in kindergarten. The giant early writing page would be a great teaching tool. It is a great tool to demonstrate a variety of writing concepts, such as correct letter formation, spacing, punctuation, etc.
