My Project

Many of my students struggle each year with writing. It can be daunting to stare at a blank page and not know how to start or what you're supposed to write. A lot of students feel pressured to have a perfect draft the first time and get stuck trying to make that a reality.

I want to incorporate low-stakes writing practice each day to help my students be less afraid of making mistakes and view writing as a process, not a one-and-done system.

By providing notebooks and pencils for each student, I will be able to give them the materials to participate in Writing Wednesdays. We'll complete low stress writing projects directly into the notebook that we can later workshop and turn into a completed draft.

The goal is to help students view writing as a series of drafts and steps, not as a finished project on the first try. This will improve their confidence when it comes to writing and help them overcome that scary writer's block. I would love to help them be more successful when it comes to writing.
