This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the excitement of the beginning of a new school year when you are over the moon about the thought of seeing your friends again and meeting your new teacher? That is how my incoming fourth grade students are feelings as they prepare for this new school year.

The majority of my students are from low income backgrounds and many of my students speak English as a Second Language.

I work in a school district in an urban area in Massachusetts. It is my first year teaching in this school district so I am trying to fill my classroom with all of the supplies my students and I will need for a successful school year!

My Project

We are at the point in the school year where my class is running low on supplies. In my reading and writing classes we use notebooks daily for students to record their thoughts, ideas, and creative stories. However, we are running low on pencils for students to be able to use to write those stories.

We need more writing materials for the students to be able to participate in our daily lessons in notebooks and white boards.

Additionally, the students enjoy writing on whiteboards to show their mathematical thinking and participate in games such as True or False. In order for students to be able to do these activities, we need supplies such as expo markers and erasers.
