This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of teaching over 100 teenagers who surprise me on a daily basis with their commitment to learning, the depth of their thinking, and their desire to make something of themselves. The diversity of their backgrounds contributes to great discussions and allows us to learn about the many cultures that make up our community.

My students overcome obstacles in their lives on a daily basis, and I wouldn't teach anywhere else.

I love my job and want only the best for my students.

My Project

We want YOU to be the best writer that you can be! With these supplies, I will transform my classroom into a "Writing Bootcamp". A classroom transformation turns the classroom into a brand new learning environment that is fun and exciting for students.

My students will experience "Writing Bootcamp" as I transform the classroom and become their "Skill Sergeant".

Military themed decorations and rewards will coincide with an essay writing unit. Text used throughout the unit will be military themed and the essay will focus on military working dogs and their partnership with soldiers, as well as service dogs that aid injured members of the military.

Throughout this unit, students will learn important writing skills as well as the contributions that our military members, both human and animal, have made to our society.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
