Writing and Learning Over Summer Break! Handwriting Gifts! (Title I)

Help me give my students handwriting books as educational gifts to be given the last week of school. Each student will receive a cursive book, while some may need additional practice with their print writing.

My Project

Teaching in a high-poverty area at a Title I elementary school has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I have learned and gained so much from my students and their families, and I try to be the most effective and caring teacher I can be each year for all of my students. Being a teacher has truly been one of the greatest joys in my life, while also being extremely humbling. Teaching through a pandemic showed me that nothing will stop me from being the teacher my students need.

I am requesting cursive workbooks for my students to have as a fun and educational gift to enjoy starting during summer break.

Cursive is first taught in third grade in our state, so these books will allow students to begin practicing early and build confidence before the next school year. Many of my students have already expressed excitement about learning cursive, and I know they will be eager to get started. Some students are still strengthening their print handwriting skills, so these resources will also help them improve their overall writing abilities as they prepare for third grade.

It is very important for students to be able to write legibly so they can clearly express their thinking across all subject areas, including reading, science, social studies, and math. These workbooks will provide meaningful practice while also encouraging creativity, independence, and pride in their work. I know these gifts will be appreciated and enjoyed by my students for a long time. Thank you for your time, generosity, and support of my classroom and students. The candy and keychains also being requested with go along with the handwriting books as end of the year gifts.
