My Students

We have entered our second quarter of the school year. Students who have adjusted to the school environment have excelled in their grades. For the second quarter, our goal is to improve writing and participate in a writing workshop.

Many of them have experienced trauma and tragedy since the beginning of COVID-19 and it is my job as an educator to create a nurturing and safe environment for them.

This year I want my students to be in charge of their learning and therefore they will engage in a year-long project of writing and publishing their own self-narratives. This book will allow students to be proud of and share their own stories with one another, their parents, and their city!

My Project

This quarter our students are using their knowledge to launch into our writing unit. We will be working to custom-create our writing journals by designing decals using our classroom Cricut and stamping them to our blank journals. Each student will strengthen their understanding of writing tools and strategies as well as their stamina as a writer, the pens and pencils will allow for students to have the tools they need to write. This project will prepare them for their junior year as readers and writers as well as give them something to look forward to achieving this year. Their understanding of common core state standards will also increase. Students will present their projects to the class at the end of the school year.
