This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten class is full of inquisitive, eager, and energetic learners who come to class every day ready to learn and do something new. Our school is a Title I-funded school, and all students receive free lunch.
The ambition and drive that my kindergarten scholars possess are absolutely amazing for any teacher who interacts with them!
The impulse to ask vital questions, to critically investigate, to anxiously explore, to meticulously examine, and to carefully experiment come from a burning curiosity about the world in which we live in and a strong desire to understand things we experience daily by any means necessary!
My Project
Writing is an essential skill that can benefit students for the rest of their lives. Introducing and practicing writing with engaging activities in elementary school, can foster confidence and a lifelong love of writing. Writing skills are important for elementary students' continued learning in all academic areas, self-expression and communication.
My students need story writing paper to draw and write about the world through their eyes, colored pencils and crayons to add color and a personal, creative touch, word cards to spell the words, picture cards to use the words of familiar pictures, and blank sketch books to doodle, draw and create their own masterpieces and a caddy to keep it all together.
Writing about the world is also important for vocabulary and reading development. Creative and reflective writing exercises build confidence and appreciation for writing. Through journals and personal story writing, children can discover their identities and work through real-life problems.
