Our students come from many diverse backgrounds. 100% of our students receive free lunch. They attend an inner city school where more than half of the students commute for the education we provide. We have healthy foods and a garden, and we speak seven different languages at home.

My Project
Writing is the key to success in school and life. All communication is dependent on writing anything from short texts to college essays. Before my 5th graders go on to middle school I want them to be confident writers. I want to create a writer's workshop where the tools to create stories, essays, memoirs, and poetry are in a writing station.
I want our writer's workshop to be a locus of inspiration and luxurious supplies.
With tablets, folders, pens, doodle books, and editing supplies, my students will be able to write for fun and entertainment. These writing skills will help them with writing in all subjects in the future.
