Writers and their Needs

My students need composition books to write and hold their writing ideas. Yellow paper is for drafting and the tape is for reference materials.

My Students

My students begin each day writing one entire page in their writing notebook to shake off their "writing cobwebs" and to clear their minds for the day of instruction. They then use these same notebooks to write down their seed ideas for stories and to try on different writing techniques.

My students are eager to learn and have already been successful writers in the classroom.

Half of my students do not speak English as their first language and are learning how to not only speak English, but also how to write in English. What they are able to produce and accomplish in a single day of writing class is inspiring.

My Project

We will use these materials to continue our daily writing. After only 2 months of school, my students have already completely filled a composition book and will need more to capture and hold all of their writing. We also need more yellow paper in order to write our rough drafts and revisions. The tape is to secure the reference materials in the writing notebooks so that they are accessible when needed.

Your donation will help my students to keep all of their writing in one location.

They will be able to go back at the end of the year and see their collection of writings in these composition books and reflect on their growth as writers.
