"The more you read, the more you know, the more you learn, the more places you'll go!"
I am always telling my students this quote from Dr. Seuss to ignite a passion for reading, writing and fluency with words.
I want to give my students every opportunity to become better writers and authors.
My students are a multi-cultural group of second graders who come from diverse backgrounds. School is a place my students look forward to coming to and they are eager to learn. My students need opportunities to learn in different ways. Many come from very low socio-economic environments. School is often a safe haven for many of my students and they are eager to learn.
My Project
By having a writing center in my classroom students will be able to practice and build upon their writing skills. Writing is an essential skill that can benefit my students for the rest of their life.
I want my students to learn that writing can be fun and provide them with a supportive area in the classroom that will foster confidence in their writing abilities and create the lifelong love of writing.
At the elementary level it important for students to learn that writing improves communication skills, helps them to remember recently learned material , and encourages creativity and exploration.
I want my student to see their thoughts and ideas on paper and become confident authors!
