Many of my students come to me from low-income families. Single parents are raising most of our students. Ten percent of my students live with a grandparent or a foster parent due to family issues. Most of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Throughout the year, we are made aware of our homeless students. These students need extra care and attention.
I try to create as positive of a learning environment as I possibly can because they deserve it.
My students face so many challenges. Please help me give them materials that they'll actually enjoy.
My Project
Dry erase boards replace the traditional paper and pencil math practice. Students are better engaged and eager to attempt math problems. Students love the quick and easy erase method. Students tend to not get as frustrated with their mistakes. When practicing on the boards, students erase and retry.
Dry erase boards make it easier for the teacher to see all student efforts which enables immediate feedback.
The teacher can readily see which students are struggling and which students have grasped the lesson concepts. Adding dry erase boards to the classroom also enhances student engagement and classroom communication. Students often request boards when completing independent classwork. These give me enough boards to assign each student a board to avoid sharing germs with the current COVID-19 situation.
