Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Second grade is the year where students transition from learning how to read to reading to learn.

Having the necessary tools to write, makes it so much more engaging.

My students will use the wipe-off boards to brainstorm ideas in small groups. Once students have shared ideas, they are off to write on their own. Then, they will develop informational, narrative, and persuasive writing pieces with paper.

Once their pieces are edited, revised, and rewritten, they will become a part of their Second Grade portfolio. It is a keepsake which allows students to see how much they've grown as writers over the course of the year.
