Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have noticed that my students have struggled a lot with wanting to write. I have been thinking of many different ways to spark their interest. Please help me give them fun tools to help motivate and encourage them in their writing.
I want to give my class exciting new ways through technology as well as fun pencils, to help them practice their motor skills, typing skills, and 21st century technology skills.
We just got two keyboards funded from a previous project and it has been so much fun! Although sharing two keyboards among 23 students can be a challenge, they have been so grateful and extremely patient. I would love to be able to have each group have their own designated keyboard to share. Just that change alone has made writing something my students look forward to. They love the retro typewriting style and have already learned how to connect it through Bluetooth to their iPads. Now, they are practicing the important skill of transferring their physical writing into typing on a word document. This will help them prepare for their future in education.
I also want to give them fun pencils and stylus pens to help them practice their fine motor skills when writing on paper or on their iPads and to make the writing process more fun. The fidget poppers would be used to help with sounding words out and spelling. Many of my students are benefiting from matching movement with sounding words out phonetically.
