Write On!

My students need a wireless printer, 20 flash drives and 3 black Inkjet cartridges to be able to write and print reports, essays, stories and poetry with precision, ease and efficiency.

My Students

Do you remember the pride you had at something you made and shared with others? Was it a poem you wrote, a picture you created, a story you told? Technology has the power to exponentially improve productivity of students. Why not merge brain power with computer power and step up the productivity.

I teach in an elementary school and encourage all sorts of written, mathematical, scientific and artistic expression.

The classroom population consists of students with a wide range of abilities and talents. The class is a mixture of students who learn differently, each bringing a unique perspective to a project. We work as a whole class at times, and at other times break into small groups for more individualized learning

My Project

With an average of 35 students each year, space is limited. I'd love to be able to have students work on a computer in the room to research and write about a topic, or to type an original essay or poem, or to create art, and then hold onto the project on individual flash drives, and print the works for display and sharing. There is not much room in the classroom with so many desks, plus small group areas for working. It is not feasible to have several computers and printers, but with one wireless printer, we can network for printer. My goal with this is to eventually add on, purchasing several laptop computers so students could take one to his/her desk to work and print from anywhere. In the meantime, flash drives would at least allow a student to use any available computer to start, work on, edit and finally publish a paper.

I value the written word, and technology has made it possible to improve on pencil and paper work.

Editing work, sharing work, displaying printed work all can be made easier and more efficient with a wireless printer in my classroom. Work is meaningless if not shared.
