I see a variety of students throughout my day with varying special needs. These include autism, cerebral palsy, dysgraphia, intellectual disabilities, and more. What these students may lack in physical or cognitive capacity, they make up for with kindness and determination. They power through their struggles every day to try their best!
These students can better succeed with additional supports.
We are in a very rural district, where 80% of the children here are from low-income families and receive extra support from the school. They are doing their part every day by showing up to school with a good attitude, ready to learn and succeed! Now we must create the environment that will allow them to succeed!
My Project
These materials are items that we have loved in the past. They are games the kids have played and loved...so much that they are now falling apart! We would like to replace these items for the kids since we know that are effective and enjoyed!
The games will be set up at centers to work on fine motor control, counting, color recognition, etc.
The writing tablets will be used as a fun way to practice their handwriting. It is very motivating for kids to use something other than traditional paper.
The lined paper will be used for a more focused approach to improving their letter formation. That is a critical skill as they go into Kindergarten!
