Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school's fundamental approach to education is to foster character development through a small school environment with firm discipline and high levels of parent involvement. Our program gives children from diverse cultural backgrounds an opportunity to succeed at a high level, with enriching coursework and foreign language education from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Fourth grade is an exciting year for students and teachers, because it is in fourth grade that children begin assignments requiring long-range planning, collaborating on group assignments, using research tools, and developing a real writing style.

Children in my classroom test their predictions as they study complex systems, and expand their study of social studies beyond the knowledge of our local community and into the realms of Florida history and government.

The atmosphere in my classroom is light and playful, to better support my bright, energetic fourth graders in reaching their learning goals. We enjoy releasing butterflies, dancing together, and growing together.

My Project

Individual write and wipe, and building math skills student whiteboards will allow every student to answer a question, allow for quick assessment, and allow for quick assignments when I am interrupted (such as having students illustrate a vocabulary word while I attend to a ringing classroom phone).

Because students can easily erase mistakes, they will feel encouraged in their learning process.

Struggling students and perfectionists will be more likely to take risks in their work. Students that are normally too shy to come to the front whiteboard or to raise their hand can answer questions posed to the class on their personal whiteboard, and show me their answer so that I can ascertain how much they understand and can further help them.
