My Project

The power of real-world examples can be seen daily in our first grade classroom! These paired texts will provide meaningful and engaging examples of writing; the writing that is expected of our first grade students.

I want to instill a love of learning AND writing in the hearts and minds of my students.

I plan to supplement our writing program with texts like “Red is Best" to show our students that they, themselves, are real authors and can produce the same types of stories. The books will be used to reach our learning goals within different genres by analyzing the texts, using the text to model and scaffold throughout the writing process. These literary examples will be used for years to come to inspire young readers and writers.
