This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wrestling team is very diverse group comprised of approximately 40 athletes. They are hard-working and dedicated to the sport of wrestling. They are always looking to learn and challenge themselves both on the mat and in the classroom. My wrestlers are learning to work through the grueling challenges of the sport as well as the importance of sportsmanship and academics. My students grow through the opportunities that wrestling provides and through the leadership they receive from their captains and the coaching staff. It is my goal to build upon each student's personal strengths and to help them learn how to continually improve athletically as well as academically.

My Project

The wrestling program at our school is hoping to get more athletic equipment to keep our student athletes engaged in training while considering safety. I would like to give our wrestlers a better opportunity to advance their skills by boosting their fitness through safe plyometric boxes. In addition to the foam jump boxes I would like the wrestlers to feel safe with brand new headgear and a new digital scale for safe effective tracking of weight management. Athletics are an extension of the classroom and all student athletes benefit from a sport that increases safety , engagement, and physical activity.
