Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hard-working athletes with spirit and resilience need your help! We are going on our 3rd year of having a girls' wrestling team at our high school in the south Bronx. A lot of the kids in my school live in high-poverty neighborhoods, and guardians struggle to make ends meet. Some of my athletes end up leaving teams mid-way due to equipment expenses. Wrestling shoes are the most expensive thing a wrestler needs to compete, and can be a burden for many of my athletes to get. Our team just continues to grow with 30 returners and not many shoes to share or give to new girls. It has been a struggle as we have started up practices. At our early interest meeting, we had 19 new girls interested!! The shoes and kneepads will allow my athletes to truly work on their skills with grip. Help these kids reach high goals, make it far, and feel confident while doing it!
