My students are a diverse group of students with a variety of learning styles and needs. These students come to my room for targeted small group or individualized instruction. We work on reading, math, and written language throughout the day.
All of these students are significantly below grade level in one or more academic areas and therefore require targeted individualized instruction.
Many repetitions and frequent review are are needed to help these students to improve academically.
These students struggle every day so each small success is celebrated.
My Project
Reader pens are an amazing technological advancement. As the pen is moved over the words, the sentences are read aloud for the student. I have been waiting for years or something like this to be invented for my special needs students.
A reader pen will allow struggling readers to access printed material of their choosing which may be beyond their reading level.
This will in turn enrich their vocabulary and improve their comprehension skills. The students can practice reading aloud with the reader pen to increase their oral reading fluency and expression. A device such as the reader pen will greatly enhance student learning.
