Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 7th grade we learn about decomposers, and in 8th grade we learn about human impact on the environment. I regularly mention composting and worm bins as an example of what students can do on their own. They often don't believe how easy it is or that the bin doesn't smell. I want to show them!

Students need to see what we are teaching in action and take steps each day to help our environment.

This bin will not just show them how it works, but we can also compost our own food waste from our breakfast each morning. And even more, we can use the compost when we plant herbs each spring.

I would love for this to go further, and have school wide composting, but this is a baby step for now.
