Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students
The students in my class attend an urban school district with limited financial resources. Most of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of them have experienced crime in their lives and find it difficult to come to school. They have a range of learning abilities and come from diverse backgrounds. The typical student in my class need activities that promote unity and teamwork. My students need ways to communicate with others in fun and engaging ways.
My students deserve an opportunity to interact and thrive in a STEM-driven classroom that supports and promotes 21st century standards with needed resources.
There continues to be a slide in the school's budget, so any chance to provide resources for my students is slim to none. My students need resources to address a variety of deficiencies in order to meet grade level expectations.
My Project
Christmas is an exciting time for children. They love to read Christmas books and create projects that share their culture and experiences. Students will have a fun and exciting adventures as we read and create traditional items for celebrations experienced throughout the world.
Students will be learning about acceptance of others traditions, beliefs and customs and come to value the diverse world that we live in.
They will share their own family customs and traditions with the class that will build on cultural acceptance of diversity within our classroom, community and world. By donating to our project you will not only allow students the ability to explore others cultures, but also give them the tools to do hands on exploring and activities. The Kraft boxes, tissue tubes, and masking take will be used to create a Christmas, the garland will be used to create a Hanukkah poster highlighting key elements, and the Kwanzaa decoration will be used to create a card sharing their traditions. By allowing them to learn through doing they will gain an authentic understanding of other holiday traditions. .
