My students need remo tubano drums to experience World Music Drumming in an authentic way. These drums are sturdy, durable, and can receive lots of student use while still making a good, musical sound.
E Rivers students are a diverse group of learners with heart! They LOVE to make music. Because students come from a variety of backgrounds, they bring a variety of experiences with them to the music classroom. If we were able to have a variety of instruments to use in our learning, we would be able to fully engage in learning music concepts through the IB Mission.
Using the World Music Drumming platform, students would learn musical concepts, historical information, folk songs from a variety of times and cultures, and even have the opportunity to create music; all in a fun, engaging, and interesting way.
Students will learn critical thinking skills that will help them not only in their academic classes, but also in their future endeavors. The teamwork and cooperation skills of the students are enhanced, thereby effectively preparing students for their future.
My Project
Students will use these bass tubano drums to experience World Music Drumming. World Music Drumming is a program that exposes students to the music of various cultures while enhancing student's intra and interpersonal skills. Drumming will help to create well-rounded students who develop positive self-esteem and a concept for others.
Students will be performing musical arrangements of songs from other places and learning and developing curricular connections about those places.
These activities will directly impact the IB mission, "to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect."
