My Students

I am a first-year teacher at a Title I school. I teach fourth grade and am loving every minute of it. Before my teaching position, I did my student teaching as well as held a long-term substitute position at my new school and fell in love with the students, principal, and staff. Even though, my students struggle with hardships every day, such as homelessness, incarcerated parents, little or no food, and language barriers, they always have a smile on their face when they come to school and are eager to learn. I am blessed to be able to work with these students and make a difference in their lives.

My Project

My students are awesome and want to be as helpful as they can to their peers. This is great, this is what I ask for most of the time. However, not so great when it comes to testing. Even though I give explicit instructions that they are to work silently and independently and they they may not receive or give help to their neighbors and friends, some just can't help themselves. My students have such big hearts. Privacy folders will help to minimize the temptation of peeking at a neighbor's paper or asking their friends for an answer or clue to a question.
