I teach 6th, 7th and 8th graders with a variety of learning needs. My students struggle with social-emotional and learning disabilities that make learning in traditional ways very difficult. Due to these learning needs, I strive to provide instruction in different ways to meet the needs of all students.
Many of my students struggle with attention and learning retention.
My school focuses on the social-emotional well-being of our students through PRIDE, which stands for Principled, Respectful, Inclusive, Determined, and Empathetic. We expect our students to be responsible for their actions and attitude, respectful of people and property, be open-minded of differences, be prepared, and support others' needs and feelings. The benefits of flexible seating embraces those behaviors and encourages students to make decisions that benefit their social-emotional needs and learning styles.
I would like an easel and pad paper so that I can use them as tools for my students to do more learning in our classroom community. Having an easel with storage will help students teach and work together in a small group setting. The storage will allow for more space for students to transition from group to group. I am so excited to see what my students can do with more tools to enhance their learning and expand their knowledge.
The easel will make a huge difference in my classroom by helping the students who need more individualized instruction and will provide opportunities for them to participate in multi-sensory lessons.
