Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a diverse group of students at our school that are eager to learn and want to exercise on a daily basis to live a healthy lifestyle. As a PE department we do not like how our students get PE only two or three times a week for one hour at a time. Unfortunately, in our district our students may not get a lot of opportunities for exercise out side of school and two 60 minutes classes does not cut it.
Our school is trying to set a positive environment for our students to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
As a PE department we are looking to improve our fitness center for our students to be able to work out during class. Our PE classes are extremely full and there is a lot of down time and it would benefit our students if we had the ability to put some students in the fitness center to work out.
My Project
With the free weights we have requested we would be able to set up daily workout routines for the students to use to get in shape and build muscle. Every year we test the students with the Fitnessgram test which tests, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility.
Students should have the proper equipment to workout properly to get in shape.
With the free weights, students will be able to learn proper technique to work out which they could uses as they get older. It is important to us as they grow that they are using correct form so they do not get injured.
