Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our amazing students are being served in a backcountry community with limited access to city resources. Our community is working hard to develop strategies to help teach and motivate students to take charge of their academics and their future. Many students are still struggling academically due to the effects of COVID-19. Many students also struggle in class due to societal expectations of what others believe their behavior should be like. Providing students with a weekly incentive store empowers students to work hard towards mastering school expectations. They definitely focus and work hard to earn their prizes at the school store.
The school incentive store is particularly powerful for students with varying disabilities.
Neurodiverse students (students with ADHD, ASD, etc.) are extremely motivated and excited by our school money. Since the implementation of our school's incentive store, office discipline referrals have significantly reduced compared to months in which the incentive store was not implemented. Students also report enjoying working hard to earn things they want at the store.
Please help us incentivize our students with these toys and gadgets to take charge of their academics and behavior!
