Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students left for spring break in March, never knowing we wouldn't have another day in our classroom. We didn't return the following week and moved into distance learning.
I miss my students and would love to provide items they don't have at home.
We use the Seesaw platform, where students are sent math, ELA, and science activities each weekday. We are allowed to Zoom with students once a week, but I've only had 2-4 students attend these past 2 weeks. I know my students could each use a workbook to practice important math and reading skills.
My Project
My students are learning through activities on Seesaw and meeting to talk with the class on Zoom. They are no longer getting paper and pencil activities. That may seem strange to request, but I'd like to give my students a break from screen time.
With these Weekly Reader: Summer Express workbooks, my students will reinforce skills we've learned so far and practice skills we didn't get to learn due to school closure.
I've heard great things about this workbook, which has a 10-week progressive sequence. My students can use it now and into the summer as they prepare for first grade.
