My students need the stand up desks to have alternative places to work in the classroom. Many students like to stand while they are working and this would provide them with a place to do that.
I see about 55 fifth graders throughout the day for math and social studies. 5th graders are busy and love to move around the classroom and I love seeing them get excited when they learn something new.
I am very lucky to work with amazing students in a great school district.
We are a very low-income rural district in northwest Wisconsin and have an amazing group of staff that are continuously working towards doing what is best for our students so that they can achieve their highest potential and be prepared for the world ahead of them.
My Project
Every child that walks through my door is different. They look different and they often learn differently. I offer a variety of seats in my classroom such as bungee chairs, bean bag chairs, wobble seats, and others. Even with these options, many students prefer to stand while they are working. The standing desks would provide a place for students to work while standing.
I have very high expectations for my students, and they are a hard-working group of kids.
The candy, gum and fidgets are to provide them something to help them concentrate on their work and make their class time as effective as it can be. I have used these things in my class and have found that many students benefit from using fidgets, chewing gum, etc. However, this can get expensive to provide for 55 students on a daily basis. These supplies would allow me to continue to provide these things for my students to help them while they are working.
