Words With Meaning

Help me give my students a wide variety of books to read that have interesting ways of presenting vocabulary. The My Life series of books shows how ordinary words can be illustrated to show meaning and understanding.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day, with huge smiles and ready to learn. They enjoy new challenges and love learning! I believe that all students can learn and will learn in a way that's fun and exciting. We are taking on the challenge of project based learning this year! It's an innovative way of teaching that will provide amazing results.

I teach at a Title I school in NC, with a diverse population of students.

We have many languages and cultures represented which makes it an amazing place to learn!

My Project

My students love to read. They always enjoy finding new books to read. One difficulty that they come across is vocabulary. Being able to understand new words using what they already know and context clues.

The books in the My Life series shows a way ordinary words can be illustrated to show meaning and understanding.

It puts the words in a funny story with interesting events that catches the attention of all students. This provides students with a new way to show understanding of unknown words. It is a strategy that I have started using in my classroom and students are really excited to have another way to show what they know.
