My students are incredible humans! They are curious, hard working, focused individuals who are genuinely interested in learning. They also teach me things every day, about myself and about the world. I love laughing with my students and letting them be themselves. My students range from quiet to talkative, from math lovers to reading lovers.
I look forward to seeing their faces every day, working through the challenges that each day brings, and helping them reach their goals.
Every student has their own mountains to climb and each student needs something different. Every student has the potential to go further in life. The students I work with deserve that.
My Project
Wordless books are an amazing way to build important literacy skills including: listening skills, vocabulary, comprehension and an increased awareness of how stories are structured, not to mention the increased thinking and visualization that occurs. Students are able to also think about their thinking aka metacogntion, without the text getting in the way. The depth and quality of wordless picture books has increased over the years and students love when I introduce a new wordless picture book to the class. Having a classroom selection of these books will mean that students have metacogintion at their finger tips.
