My students need word work materials such as stamps, painters, and magnetic letters to enhance their Language Arts lessons and make them more appropriate to meet the Common Core State standards.
Help me meet several art and language arts standards in my combination kindergarten/first grade classroom!
I teach a combination class of kindergarten students and first graders at a diverse school located in California.
My students are busy, spirited children who genuinely enjoy school and learning. They enjoy being active and learning about our world! I am so excited to hear about the Disneyland CREATE Grant program and Disneyland's dedication to the arts!
My Project
I am requesting a variety of art supplies to help me meet several kindergarten and first grade art standards. The painters, stampers, and dough cutters will help me address Kindergarten Visual Arts Standard 1.2: Name art materials (e.g., clay, paint, crayons) introduced in lessons, as well as Standard 2.7: Create a three-dimensional form, such as a real or imaginary animal. The word work materials I am requesting such as magnetic letters and phonics cards will allow me to integrate art into our language arts lesson, which will hopefully make my students even more enthusiastic about both subjects!
I am so enthusiastic about this project because I know how much my students enjoy being creative!
I hope to show them that they can all be creative, which will hopefully spill over into other areas as they become creative problem solvers. Thank you Disneyland's CREATE Grant!
