Word Games for Better Writing!

My students need new word related games to help them develop their vocabulary and spelling skills, as part of our Language Arts block and during indoor recess on rainy days.

My Students

If you enjoy word games such as Boggle and Scrabble, then you know how they force you to focus on spelling and vocabulary building while having fun at the same time.

My students are mostly low income and mostly from non English speaking households.

They are a great group but they are quite a bit behind as a whole on their English language skills. They need all the help they can get with spelling and vocabulary development.

My Project

Boggle and Scrabble are games that I've introduced to my class as a whole using an overhead projector. They all love both games and often get into arguments over who will get to use the two game sets we now have. These additional games will allow each table group to have access to the games whenever the time allows.

This would be a great project to fund if you want to put a smile on some economically challenged kids' faces while helping them grow academically at the same time.

These games will go far in keeping them focused on language skills and entertained too. Thank you!
