I teach Kindergarten Students in a New York Public School. My school is a Title I School. The children come from many different backgrounds. Some are new to the country and some participate in the ESL (English as a Second Language) Program. The children are taught Balanced Literacy (i.e. Shared Reading, Read Aloud, Independent Reading, and Guided Reading), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Gym.

During Literacy Centers, the children need to practice rhyming words through Word Families that were taught during their Phonics Lesson. Students get to explore common word families through much needed hands-on practice. When they sound out the letters in the words, they are learning to read, spell and decode words so that they could become better readers.

My students need Listen and Learn Word Family Activity, Word Family House Pocket Chart, Twist and Read Word Family Eggs, and Word Family Magnets. By using these materials during Literacy Centers, my students will gain the needed reading skills to help them decode words while they are reading.

Your assistance in providing my students with these learning activities will greatly benefit their learning process so that they will become readers.
